kara, justin & august.

I love my family more than anything.

My brother Justin and my sister Kara are expecting two identical twin girls in the next couple weeks... or days?  We are so excited for these two to come into our family.  August, my sweet nephew, has been the biggest blessing on earth.  Over the past year and a half he has given us so much joy, and entertainment (especially at the dinner table).  It's hard for me to imagine what it's going to be like to have two more little ones running around, but I'm sure once they are here we won't be able imagine life without them.  That's how I feel about my new siblings, too.  Kara and my new brother-in-law, Jason, are such important parts of my life now, and I really couldn't imagine life without them.

Kara and Justin's little (almost big) family is starting to mimic our own.  The oldest is a boy, the middle two are twin girls... all they need is a little Kaethe, and they'll be all set for life! ;)  Today is their seven year wedding anniversary, and I hope these pictures reflect all of the love and strength that's come out of these past seven years.

Love.

Okay, I know I can be biased, but this time I know I'm not.  Kara is THE most beautiful pregnant person with twins I've ever seen.

Anna - Albuquerque Maternity Photography

This was a very different shoot for me.  Normally I photograph outdoors with natural light--- walking the streets looking for unique backgrounds, or stepping through fields in the North Valley.  We were able to shoot all of these images with a homemade studio set up in my very home.  I looked for inspiration in my curtains, beds, and painted walls of a place that I spend 80 percent of my time.  As an artist, I feel like sometimes the most beautiful ideas grow from places most intimate.

Anna, a close friend of my sisters, and husband Mark are about to have their first child come May.  I had such a fun time with this shoot, exploring with lights and props, in the intimacy of my own house.  My sister's and friends talked, laughed, and sat around Anna, as she was being photographed.  She really was glowing, and made this modeling thing look way too easy.  Thank you for sharing your growing belly, and beautiful self with me! :)

Henderson Family.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to photograph Kendra, Chris...and the future Kira Henderson down in the North Valley of Albuquerque. This was my very first experience with a maternity shoot.  Honestly, I was nervous.  I'm always nervous with shoots, but with something new like this..I was especially nervous.

I could NOT have asked for a better pair of people to photograph under these circumstances. These two (three) were so beautifully photogenic, outgoing, and made ME feel comfortable behind the camera.  Usually I ask the people I photograph to 'be in your own world' in order to capture genuine interaction, smiles, kisses, etc------these two did it naturally.  Kendra was glowing, Chris was smiling ear-to-ear, the sky was clear, and the sun was beautiful! Perfect day. I love my job.
